Truthfully Halloween is my least favourite holiday and Halloween decor isn't something I've very fond of, but the kids love it, so I try my best to make it fun! Here are my 3 golden rules to keep Halloween decor somewhat "classy".

1. Keep it Monochrome

I know, I know, I'm allergic to colour LOL ..but Halloween is the perfect holiday for all things black, white and grey! This year these 3D bats have been my FAV piece of Halloween decor (with the exception of Mr. Bones, but more about him later LOL). They're inexpensive, they don't damage your walls and they make a statement. I bought a few packs of these this year and the kids love them. A few bats have a tendency to fall off every now and then but it's not so bad, and at least my walls are still intact. I was also SO excited to see that Monika Hibbs created digital bat art for the Samsung Frame TV. It worked out perfectly!

Along with the bats, I also purchased a few large spiders, which you probably saw on the kids Halloween library wall. These are great to throw up, almost anywhere! They take up quite a bit of space and make a large impact, with little effort (my fav!).

2. Decorate the common areas

When decorating for Halloween I focus on my entry way, family room, and kids playroom, which you can see here. I also add a few small touches to our kitchen. These are the areas of our home that we spend most of our time in. For our entryway I just added a few bats and a bowl of candy (which scored me some major mama points LOL).

On our mantel I kept our pumpkins from our fall decor, swapped out the garlands, and made a statement with our 3D bats. As an added touch, I snuck our favourite little Halloween mice into some of the decorative bowls on our bookshelf.

In the kitchen, even swapping out your dish towel for a festive one makes a difference. I also update our little letter board for every holiday with a fun phrase, and I threw in a few spiders for a spooky touch. It's the simplest Halloween decor, but the kids get excited about everything, big or small!

3. Get a Mr. Bones

Last, but definitely not least, Mr. Bones, our 5 ft tall skeleton! The kids and I are having so much fun moving him around the house. Currently he's sitting at our kitchen table, and even I get a little laugh every time I pass him by. The thing that's great about Mr. Bones, is that no matter where he hangs, you notice him. This makes it look like you stepped up your Halloween decor game with very little effort #winning!

I hope these 3 simple steps to classy Halloween decor, help get you in the spooky spirit! Let me know some of your fav Halloween decor pieces below!
