Welcome to our Christmas home tour! It's our first year living in our new home for the holidays, and I couldn't wait to get it looking all festive!! This year I used tons of real and faux greenery in our home with touches of natural wood tones, whites and my fav, brass bells. In the kids bedrooms and in their playroom I used a bit more red and colour, because I wanted to make these spaces more playful.
Our Foyer
Our console table in the foyer has a subtle touch of holiday decor, with a faux green wreath hung on the mirror as a focal point. Since we use our mudroom as our main entrance, I wanted to decorate this space as well. I added a natural green wreath to our mudroom door, and it smells divine every time I walk into the house. I love how our natural toned pillows add a subtle hint of Christmas to the space. Between the foyer and mudroom you'll find our DIY advent calendar. It's been a huge hit with the kids, it was very simple to put together, and I love how it looks!
Our Kitchen
As you enter the heart of our home you'll find a similar aesthetic. I hung wreaths with gingham bows and gold bells in our kitchen windows, and added fresh silver leaf eucalyptus to our island, next to our white Christmas tree cookie jar. The rest of our kitchen decor is quite subtle with ornaments in our fruit tray, a countdown to Christmas sign next to our stove, and my favourite wooden advent calendar in the window. I get a lot of questions about the advent calendar, and unfortunately it's unavailable. We purchased it at a Christmas market in Germany years ago, however I linked similar ones here. I had originally hung fresh mistletoe on our island stools (you can see how it looked here). Unfortunately it didn't hold up very well, so I replaced it with these simple and elegant white bows. I didn't do much too our dining table because we use it often, but once I set my table for Christmas I will share the details with you.
Our Living Room
The living room is the prettiest space in our home. The Christmas tree, mantel and white ceramic houses makes the space so cozy! You can see how I decorated our tree here. I kept it quite simple and most of the ornaments are from previous years, but I just love how it looks. The mantel is a mix of faux garland and natural pieces of pine and cedar that make it look more full. I then added a natural wood bead garland, a sleigh bell garland and a few wooden and felt trees to complete the look. Unfortunately the stockings are no longer available, but I added these little wood name tags to them this year and they are just perfect! The final touch to our living room decor are all the twinkle lights that make everything sparkle at night!
The Playroom
Next up on the Christmas home tour is our playroom. Here I went with more of a traditional Christmas feel, with reds, greens and all of my beloved little gnomes. Since this space is for the kids, I wanted to fill it with things that they would enjoy!
The Girls Bedrooms
Last up on the home tour, is the girls bedrooms. As a kid, my mom would always decorate my room for Christmas and it's one of my favourite holiday childhood memories. I placed their mini Christmas tree out front of their rooms (Stella calls it their foyer LOL). Each year I buy each of the girls an ornament that I think best represents them or their interests that year. The tree is filled with those special ornaments, as well as my favourite handmade ornaments that Stella has brought home from school. I also added some garland, twinkle lights and a few sparkly gnomes in each of their bedrooms. To complete their space, I through some festive throw pillows and Christmas Santa sheets on their beds.
I hope you enjoyed my Christmas home tour! I had so much fun decorating of the holidays and I hope you love it as much as I do! Hopefully it can serve an inspiration for you for years to come (I'm a little late posting it this year - sorry!!). I tried my best to link all of the details below. If I missed anything, please let me know in the comments.
XO
Caroline
