Welcome back to round 3 of my Home Tour Series! If you missed any of the other room reveals you can find them under the Home tab. Today I’m giving you all of the details on the most used space in my home, the kitchen. I love how this space turned out! I wanted a kitchen that was timeless, and I think we accomplished just that. To be honest, if I were to do it all over again, I think I would take more risks and make the space a touch more modern.

We worked with Bloomsbury Kitchens and Fine Cabinetry on most of the cabinetry in our home, and they made the whole process so effortless and enjoyable from concept to install. We went with a solid wood framed kitchen, and it turned out better than I ever imagined! I love the windows next to the range hood that bring in so much natural light. I thought I would need more upper cabinet space, but I don't miss it at all! My absolute fav part of the kitchen is the desk area. It's my little command centre, where my to do list lives, and where a lot of junk ends up, but at least the junk has a home LOL. I also like the open shelving above, because it provides some space for pretty little things and decor.

The Cabinetry

My most asked question when it comes to my kitchen is the colour of my cabinets. The white cabinets are Benjamin Moore, Oxford White, and the island is a white oak stain. We had originally decided on a matching white island, however I'm SO happy we changed it. The white oak adds so much warmth to the space and softens it up, while still keeping everything light and bright. Our walls are Benjamin Moore, Oxford White. The kitchen hardware was a labour of love; I lost sleep over all the darn hardware in our home!! I think hardware is such an important accessory, and I'm so happy with our final selection. We chose to mix and match the hardware, and it looks perfect (in my opinion!). On the white cabinetry, we went with a polished nickel finish and on the white oak cabinetry we chose a matte black finish. For the drawers, we used the Cotswold Drawer Pull and on the cabinets, we did a mix of the Bakes Pull Handle, the Cotswold Ball Knob, and my absolute fav, the Cotswold Cupboard Latch.

The Kitchen Appliances & Sink

All of the appliances in our home are from Caplan's Appliances, and we are very happy with them. Our kitchen fridge, range and dishwashers are from Miele, and they are SO cool, especially the range. It can essentially cook a full meal on its own, it has a built in warming drawer and microwave, and so much more that I have yet to learn! It's definitely worth the investment. Many people recommended installing two dishwashers since we entertain often. I initially thought the idea was insane, but I'm now so grateful. It makes such a big difference when it comes to clean up!

Our sink is a fireclay farmhouse sink and I LOVE it! My favourite thing about it is the accessories. You can accessorize with anything from a drying rack to a colander. We have the drying rack, grid (to avoid scratches) and cutting board. I don't get much use out of the cutting board, but the drying rack I use daily. The faucet is Rubinet, it's made locally in Toronto, and it's just so dreamy (yes, I think plumbing fixtures can be dreamy LOL). Since the sink is in the island, the faucet is a focal point so I was very particular with this selection, and I think it turned out great! We also purchased the matching polished nickel pot filler, and I must say a pot filler is a game changer!

The Countertop & Backsplash

The kitchen countertop and backsplash are Oriental White Quartzite from Select Surfaces Corp. We chose to run the countertop up to the ceiling and I'm obsessed with how it looks; it's also super easy to keep clean since there are no grout lines to worry about! I love the brown veining in the stone, because it adds warmth and ties in well with our light oak island. We had it sealed, and although it's not 100% stain or scratch resistant, it does make a big difference.

The Breakfast Nook

Originally I wanted to do a built in bench seat in the breakfast nook, but our architect drew these oversized, floor to (almost) ceiling windows, and I quickly changed my mind. Not only can you see these windows from the front door, which adds a wow factor when you first enter our home, they bring in SO much natural light; you guys know I'm a sucker for natural light! Although our backyard is currently a construction zone, I love that you can see all of it from these windows. It makes the outdoors feel like a continuation of our home and it brings me so much joy! My only concern with these windows was the window coverings, however we worked with Sun-Brite Drapery to install automatic blinds and I couldn't be happier! We went with a solid white fabric panel and they look SO good. I was worried that the white panel would look too white (if that makes sense LOL) against the black windows at night, but it looks perfect.

The Lighting

The pendant lights above the island are beautiful and make such a statement. I think the white on the inside of the pendant softens their black aluminum exterior , and I LOVE the aged brass detail up top!! For the breakfast nook we opted for a linear light fixture. I needed something quite large, however I didn't want it to take away from the windows, and I think this one looks just right! We were also supposed to do sconces above the windows next to the range, but I removed them from the design at the very last minute and I'm happy with my decision - I just love the look of our backsplash so much!

The Kitchen Furniture

Originally I had a different vision for the counter stools, however we ended up with these black steel stools and I'm very happy with them. I wanted something that was child friendly and easy to wipe down while our children are still little and these are perfect. I ordered a few online and the rest I scored at the RH Outlet!

For the breakfast nook I took a risk and purchased an unsealed salvaged wood table - I know! I know! What was I thinking with young children LOL! I honestly love it so much, and I'm ok with any "damage" that may come our way. I think this table will look even more beautiful worn in, BUT this doesn't mean it's a free for all over here LOL. We use a table protector when using a table cloth and placemats if we don't. I also don't let the kids colour or do crafts at the kitchen table. These are done at the island or at their table, which they much rather sit at anyhow. The kitchen chairs are from HomeSense but I found similar ones here and here.

I get asked a lot about the girls' table and chairs. It sits between the living room and the kitchen and it's the most used piece of furniture in our home. If you have the space, I can't recommend it enough! This is where the girls eat, craft, colour and play.

Lastly, my favourite little accent in the kitchen is our wooden letter board (similar). We put cute little messages on it and it always brings a smile to my face.

WHITE AND WHITE OAK KITCHEN

That just about sums it up! I hope you love this space as much as I do!! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below and stay tuned for more home reveals.
