What a wild weekend! The weather was perfect, the kids had the best time, and it was exactly what I needed after the whirlwind of our grand opening week. (Note to self: planning a birthday party and a grand opening at the same time is not recommended, although everything worked out great!)Chloe chose the "Dive into 5" theme for her birthday, and I'll admit, at first I thought it was a bit basic but as I started planning, I realized there were so many possibilities, and it turned into such a fun project. Narrowing down what to include was the toughest part since there are SO many mermaid themed things out there..who knew!
Her birthday is always our family's official kickoff to summer. In our old home, it was our deadline to get the backyard ready. This year, since we're in a rental, my in-laws kindly offered their backyard for the celebration.
PARTY DETAILS
BALLOONS
I worked with Bubble n’ Bloom for the balloon garland and they did not disappoint. They are always a pleasure to work with - so accommodating and helpful!
TABLE RENTAL
This was my first time using Magic Flowers Events Rentals and I had a wonderful experience. I was on the hunt for unique kids tables and chairs, and after some digging on Google I was so pleased to come across their page. The curved table felt like a big wave, which was so fitting for our theme, and the colours of the bow chairs were giving all the mermaid vibes.
TABLE SETTING
I’m SO grateful for Party et Cie for gifting us stunning table settings for Coco’s party. She always helps me put together the sweetest ensembles for the kids' birthday parties, regardless of the theme - she literally has anything and everything you can imagine in her store. Although you can shop online, her brick and mortar location in the east end of the city is worth a visit. It’s truly a treasure trove of tasteful party decor for any age.
PARTY FAVOURS
Dollarama came through with mermaid floaties and inflatable boards for the boys. We were also gifted ring pops, chips and loot bag tags from Bella Creations for all of the kiddos. She made sure the wrapping of both treats, as well as the tags matched our decor perfectly, which is right up my alley - it’s all in the little details! The little shell baggies were from Party et Cie. We also had two little babes attend the party and I found a really sweet mermaid touch and feel books for their loot bags (I've linked them below!).
ALL THE OTHER DECOR
Amazon was our go-to for the fisherman's net, seashells, bud vases, and the sweet table tablecloth. The links to all our mermaid themed goodies are below.
ACTIVITIES
Nothing screams mermaid more than fun hair accessories! We had Glama Gal Kids come to the party to give the the guests a little hair makeover and some glitter tattoos. They offered the little ladies a hair extension mermaid braid as well as a hair wrap in a colour of their choice - it was so fun!!
No party is complete without a pinata. I found a cute shell one that matched the theme perfectly and filled it with gold chocolate coins.
CAKE
Sammy Cakes made the most beautiful and delicious cake. We went with a two-tiered cake: one lemon and one confetti with berry filling. The rice krispie mermaid tails, courtesy of my sister-in-law, were a hit!
FOOD
Alto Pizza served up wood oven pizzas, antipasto, and arancini. Our guests raved about the pizzas, including the gluten-free options. Yellow Cup Cafe provided the salads and a stunning fruit platter. Their Caesar salad is a must-try!
OUTFITS
Chloe's adorable swimsuit, tail, and cape are from Lola and the Boys. I ordered through cross-border pickups to save on duties and shipping – you can read more about that here. My dress is linked below - it’s very comfy, and I felt like the colours were perfect for the occasion.Overall, Chloe's "Dive into 5" party was a splash! Thanks to everyone who helped make it special. We can't wait for more summer fun!
